Papers consist primarily of business records from the WACO Aircraft Co. in Troy, Ohio, which was owned by Bruckner. The bulk of papers fall in the years 1930-1945. Included are minutes of the WACO Bd. of Directors and stockholders meetings, extensive financial records, photos, administrative files containing information on WACO's involvement in WW II aircraft manufacture, correspondence and materials pertaining to Bruckner's membership in the Aircraft Manufacturer's Assoc.

Clayton John Brukner was born December 18, 1896 in Ravenna, Nebraska, the youngest of seven children of John and Rachel Brukner. After a brief move to Burkeville, Virginia, the Brukners settled in Battle Creek, Michigan where Clayton entered school, graduating from Battle Creek Central High School in 1915. Bruckner was born 12/18/1896 in Nebraska. Always interested in electronics, he worked as an electrical maintenance man for the Postum Co. in Battle Creek, Mi, then with the Curtiss Aeroplane Co., in Bufflo, NY. In 1920, he started his own aircraft company with his friend James Junkin. In 1923, Bruckner and Junkin moved their company to Troy, Ohio, and in 1929, settled on the name WACO Aircraft Co.
